This is a small tri-colored mask with adinkra symbols hand carved into the face.
The center symbol is Gye Nyame – the omnipotence and immortality of God
Starting from the top left in order:
Sankofo- Return and take it.
Kuntinkantan- (Do not Boast) There is need for humility and service
Akoko Nan Tia ba, na ennkum ba – The hen treads upon the chicken but does not kill them.
Sankofa Bird- A bird with its head turned backwards taking an egg off its back. It symbolizes taking from the past what is good and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress through the benevolent use of knowledge.
