2019 GROUP TOUR to AFRIKA – 16 Days

The tour is designed to share the cultural experience of Africa, visit historical monuments in Egypt, shopping, exposure to investment opportunities, and most importantly the means to bridging the gap between our sistahs and brothas of the continent and those of us in the diaspora.

Upon reviewing the itinerary you will find the details of the 16-day travel arrangements, cost, and registration information. All deposits must be secured on or before Saturday, March 30, 2019.

To reserve your seat you must do the following: (1) Call Afrikan Traditions, LLC at (702) 373-7273 cell/ (702) 910-2232 and request a seat reservation. (2) Complete and submit registration form attached direct mail/ email/ or hand deliver (3) Mail and/or request a meeting to submit your non-refundable deposit (check, money order or cashier check) of $700 per person to confirm your reservation. Deposits can also be submitted via credit card.  A written confirmation and receipt will be forwarded via US Mail and or email only after the deposit has been received. Seats are limited and based on a first come/first served basis.

Afrikan Traditions, LLC will host monthly meetings prior to the tour departure May and June 2019 (notification of dates and times will be emailed). This will allow participants an opportunity to meet others attending tour and ask concerning questions.

After paying your initial deposit, Afrikan Traditions, LLC requires that all participants submit scheduled monthly payment by scheduled due dates. Final balance must be paid prior to June 1, 2019 – which will conclude 45 days prior to departure to avoid reservation cancellation. Participants may make partial or full payments at any time prior to the due dates.

Participant may withdraw from the tour at any time, but must do so in writing. Telephone, third party cancellations will not be accepted.

Due to current changes with contracted airlines, bus charters and hotels, African Traditions, LLC will be unable to process any refunds after June 1, 2019 once reservations have been secured. Credit/Funds may apply to future program within one year from the date).

$700 deposit is NON-Refundable – credit may apply to future events

The published tour cost is final and not subject to change.

ROOMING ARRANGEMENTS: Tour prices are based on either double or single accommodations. Roommates will always be gender appropriate.

In order to ensure congenial participation, Afrikan Traditions, LLC reserve the right to reject any person as a tour participant whose conduct is deemed incompatible with the interests of the tour group.

Depart Las Vegas, McCarren Airport via Delta Airlines flight

DAY 2: Saturday, July 20, 2019 Arrival

Arrive at Cairo, Egypt. Connect on Egypt Airlines flight to Aswan. Transfer to Cruise for embarkation.

Visits include:

  • Visit the High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple
  • Afternoon visit to the Botanical Gardens by Felucca
  • Overnight in Aswan with the opportunity to disembark or optional Sound and Light Show at Philae Temple (additional cost)
DAY 3: Sunday, July 21, 2019 Sail

Sail to Kom Ombo and visit of Kom Ombo Temple Sail to Edfu and visit the Temple of Horus Sail to Luxor – Overnight in Luxor

DAY 4: Monday, July 22, 2019 Luxor

Visit the West Bank (Valley of the Kings, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon)

Visit the East Bank (Karnak and Luxor Temple)

Overnight in Luxor with the opportunity to disembark or optional Sound and Light Show at Karnak (additional cost)

DAY 5: Tuesday, July 23, 2019 Cairo

Disembark and transfer to the airport for flight to Cairo on Egypt Airlines.

P.M. visit the Cairo Museum and shopping

DAY 6: Wednesday, July 24, 2019 Pyramids

Depart via air-conditioned coach for Tour of pyramids, Old Cairo, Sakkara etc.

Lunch at a local restaurant

Return to hotel

DAY 7: Thursday, July 25, 2019 Cairo/ Ghana

Transfer to the airport for Egypt Airlines flight. Arrive at Accra Airport.

You are met, assist and transfer to your Hotel.

Start city tour of Accra visiting the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan Africanism, it is a Pan African Center for culture and it also has a research library and gallery full of manuscripts.

Continue after lunch to visit Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Park, the final resting place of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana. The Mausoleum has been visited by many world dignitaries.

Return to your hotel.

Evening: Meet Tailors and dressmakers featuring casual wear and formal garments made from local fabric and textile at your hotel. You may purchase ready-made clothes or place an order.

Welcome dinner at your hotel.

DAY 8: Friday, July 26, 2019 Accra City Tour

Depart hotel to continue with the city tour of Accra. Visit the Presidential Museum at Christianborg Castle, former office and residence of the President of Ghana. This museum houses relics such as photographs and gifts items offered to successive government or heads of states. Continue to Old Accra driving past the Independence Arch and Black Star Square, Accra’s ceremonial grounds. Drive through Old Accra. This is a contrast of Victorian, Dutch and post-colonial architectural. You will drive past James Fort built in 1673, Old Accra Square and the Post Office. Stop to visit the Ussher Fort, one of three European forts in Accra which have survived the times. It was built as Fort Crêvecoeur by the Dutch in 1642. The name changed to Ussher Fort when the Dutch sold the fort to the English in 1668. Interact with the local people.

For the adventurous, visit the Light House built to guide ships.

Your last stop for the tour will be at the Arts and Crafts market where you may try out your bargaining skills on the local vendors and to “shop till you drop”.

DAY 9: Saturday, July 27, 2019 Accra- Health Spa

Breakfast and hotel checkout

Depart Accra to Sogakope in the Volta Region to visit The Holy Trinity SPA & Health farm which is situated in a quiet, beautiful natural surrounding spreading along Ghana’s biggest river – the Volta River. It is impressively designed and

DAY 10: Sunday, July 28, 2019 Kente Village & Boat Ride- Akosombo


Depart after breakfast to Agbozumey Kente weaving village famous for its Ewe

Kente Weaving. Here you will be welcomed by the chief weaver and his people where you will be giving the History of the Ewe Kente traditions and the people of the Ewe land. Return to Ho and check out and depart to Akosombo. Arrive in Akosombo and go on a boat ride on a motorized mini boat for an idyllic cruise on the Volta River to the hydro plant site, past picturesque hamlets and villages huddling on the banks of this great river which traverses all of Ghana.

DAY 11: Monday, July 29, 2019 Akosombo-Accra – Elmina


Depart Akosombo to Elmina in the Central Region. Enroute stop to visit a bead making factory. Observe the intriguing bead making process. Watch the centuries-old process of bead making from start to finish. Learn, and discover the art of bead making.

Continue to Elmina driving through Accra and many coconut lined beaches and fishing villages

DAY 12: Tuesday, July 30, 2019 Elmina-Traditional Naming Ceremony


Depart to Sekondi to pay a courtesy call on the chief and people of Essikado. Participate in a traditional naming ceremony by the Chief of the village. Enjoy traditional drumming and dancing. Return to Elmina Rest of evening is at leisure.

DAY 13: Wednesday, July 31, 2019 Castles Tour & Candle Light & Reverential Night

Depart to visit the Elmina Castle built by the Portuguese in 1482 for a comprehensive guided tour. This UNESCO World Heritage Site marks the first place where Europeans landed in West Africa. It changed hands several times between the Dutch, the Portuguese and the British, finally becoming an auction market for slaves. See the slave dungeons and the condemned cell where recaptured runaway slaves were incarcerated.

Continue to visit Cape Coast Castle for another tour of the West African Historical

Museum, the slave quarters and Negotiation Hall where our ancestors were bargained for and sold.

7:00 pm: Join in Reverential Evening ceremony and Candlelight vigil at the Cape Coast Castle till midnight

Return to your hotel.

Day 14: Thursday, August 1, 2019 Emancipation Day Activities- Accra

Depart Elmina after breakfast to Assin Manso for EMANCIPATION DAY which comprises of Durbar of Chiefs and people of Ghana and the Diaspora. Visit one of the biggest slave markets during the slave trade era. See for yourself the river where the slaves had their last bath before sending them to the castle dungeons.

Join the grand durbar of Regional Chiefs and Royals, wreath laying and visit the sacred “slave river” to pour libation (prayer) and spiritual bathing.

Depart for Accra
